Summer Truffle

It is commonly called summer truffle or scorzone. It has a black peridium or coarsely warty rind, with large pyramidal warts, yellowish to bronze gleba or pulp, with clear and numerous, arborescent veins, which disappear when cooked. It has elliptical, irregularly alveolar, dark spores, gathered in 1-2 per almost spherical ascus. It ripens approximately from May to November.
