Muscat truffle

It is commonly called Moscato truffle. It has a black peridium or rind with small very low warts and a dark gleba or pulp with large white veins, never larger than an egg. It has aculeate, non-alveolar spores, often 5 in number per ascus. It has a strong scent and a spicy taste. Approximately ripe from February to March.
